Hey pre-K teachers!
Summer is almost here, and we’d love to spend a little time with you. You’re invited to join us this July for Early Numeracy Pedagogy: Building Strong Mathematical Foundations; a three-day series exploring the world of our youngest mathematicians.
Each day will build on the one before it, so plan to join us for all three days as we learn about real classroom moves you can take into the next school year.
Check out the daily lineup below and save your spot. We can’t wait to see you there!
Day 1: Wired for Math: Where Mathematical Thinking Begins
Tuesday, July 7 from 1-2 PM (EST)
We’ll kick of the series with a peek inside the mind of a young mathematician while unpacking Learning Trajectories from the work of Samara and Clements and their connection to students understanding of Number Sense and Subitizing.
Day 2: Counting, Combining and Exploring Space
Wednesday, July 8 from 1-2 PM (EST)
Building on day 1, day 2 will carry the idea of number sense into counting being so much more than just 1, 2, 3. We’ll also explore how learners start joining and separating sets in Number and Operations while also diving into Spatial Relations; where students make sense of the world around them.
Day 3: Shapes, Patterns, and Data, Oh My!
Thursday, July 9 from 1-2 PM (EST)
We’ll close out the 3-part series with how 2D and 3D shapes come to life in the classroom, how patterns reveal the repeating structures that underlie all of mathematics, and how we can support students with deepening their learning of comparing, sorting, and graphing data.
