Learn how to use the Learner Activity Report (LAR) in Educator Center to track daily and weekly usage goals. Understand the difference between Total Time in Product and Total Time in Learning Activities and which metric to use.
Applies to: Admins and teachers using the Educator Center to track student progress in My Math Academy and My Reading Academy.
What the Learner Activity Report Shows
The Learner Activity Report (LAR) includes two columns that measure time spent in the program:
Total Time in Product – the full amount of time the program is open. This includes menus, reward screens (such as the Dance Party), avatar setup, and idle time in addition to instructional content.
Total Time in Learning Activities – the time students spend actively engaged in instructional activities such as games, books, videos, and reading/math experiences tied to Learning Objectives. This excludes navigation, idle time, and reward-only screens.
Which Column to Use for Usage Goals
Usage goals (for example, 15 minutes per day / 75 minutes per week) are based on time in instructional content.
👉 To check whether students are meeting usage goals, use Total Time in Learning Activities.
Why Not Use Total Time in Product?
“Total Time in Product” gives a broader picture of engagement but can overstate learning time because it includes idle time, navigation, or non-instructional screens. For usage tracking, it’s less precise.
Quick Summary for Admins and Teachers
Use Total Time in Learning Activities to track weekly/daily goals.
Total Time in Product can be helpful for understanding overall engagement, but it is not the metric tied to recommended usage.
