It was recently reported that some students using iPads to play My Math Academy were getting stuck on a particular game (Gemstone Patterns).
Description: The affected students were all using iPads running iPadOS 16.5–16.7. The game’s audio instructions were not playing for them, and the game did not allow students to click or drag the gems on the screen as needed to complete the pattern and finish the game.
Issue Status: We were able to identify that the outdated operating systems (16.5–16.7) on the students’ iPads were causing the issue in this game. Students using a more up-to-date iPadOS did not experience the problem. Our developers are still exploring a fix for those who cannot update their iPads, but a workaround has been identified.

Recommendations:
Update iPadOS: Anyone using iPadOS versions 16.5–16.7 is strongly encouraged to update their devices to the latest iPadOS available to them. This will resolve this particular issue and also lead to better program performance overall.
Workaround: Any students who become stuck on this game should be able to click the Back arrow. When asked if they want to stop playing the game, students should click the No button. This will return them to the game, which should now be functioning as intended—with audio and the ability to click and drag the gemstones to complete the game.
We are confident that this workaround will help any affected student complete the game, and our recommendation to update iPad software will also resolve this issue and improve overall performance when using our programs
