Our all-in-one Learner Activity Report compiles the most-requested student data and metadata from all programs into a single, easy-to-access CSV file for teachers and administrators. This streamlined report provides comprehensive insights, saving time and simplifying data analysis by delivering essential information in one consolidated format.
How to Download Learner Activity Reports
- Log in to your Educator Center account.
-
Click Reports at the top right of your screen to open our new Reports Center.
Note: If you are an Admin and don’t see the Reports menu on the Educator Center, contact your organization's Top-Level Admin to change your permissions.
-
In the Reporting Period section, use the drop-down to select a timeframe for your report: Placement to Date, Last Month, Last 2 Months, or Last 3 Months. You can also choose a custom Start Date and End Date if needed.
-
Use the second row of drop-down menus to select your District, School, and Class. The default for Students is All Students; use the drop-down menu to choose an individual student.
Click the Apply button to save your choices.
-
The bottom section of the report generator shows you what reports are available based on the timeframe and the program you select. The default program is My Math Academy; click on one of the other programs if you want a different report.
Click the Download Report in the Learner Activity Report section and a spreadsheet file will be downloaded by your browser. - You should be able to access the learner_activity_report CSV file wherever your computer or device is set up to save downloads. Most browsers have a downloads button in the toolbar that you can click to see and open recent downloads (the following screenshot shows the downloads button on a Chrome browser toolbar on an Apple computer).
What Data Is Included?
Students will have a row of data for each program that they are licensed to use, so expect 1 to 3 rows per student. Unlike Placement and Growth Reports, you do not need to select a specific program before generating this report; all licensed programs are included automatically.
Here's an overview of the data fields in the report:
-
Total Time in Learning Activities: Time spent in learning activities in the program, excluding time in pretest/placement activities and Idle Time* (which starts after 5 minutes of inactivity). This is the more instructionally meaningful time metric and the column that aligns with the recommended daily/weekly usage goals (e.g., 15 minutes/day).
-
Total Time in Product: Time from student login to logout, including pretest/placement activities but excluding Idle time* (which starts after 5 minutes of inactivity). Time in Product is what is reported on your Usage Dashboards in the Educator Center.
-
Total Activities Completed: The number of unique activities completed after the student's Placement Test.
-
Number of Skills Attempted: The sum of skills either entering the selected time, or achieved during that time, that are Completed and Needs Support.
-
Number of Skills Completed: The number of skills Completed during the selected time.
-
Percentage of Skills Passed: The percentage of skills Completed out of the total number of Skills Attempted.
-
Number of Skills Needing Support: The number of skills either entering the selected time, or recorded during, that are in Needs Support.
-
Placement Status: The student’s status with respect to the Placement Test: Not Started, In Progress, or Completed.
- Metadata: This includes SISID, Ethnic Origin, IEP, ELL, Primary Language, State ID, and MTSS.
* Idle Time: After five minutes of inactivity, this and any continuing idle time are excluded from the reported Total Time in Learning Activities and Total Time in Product. For example, if a student logs in for 25 minutes and starts with 10 minutes of activity, followed by 8 minutes of Idle Time, and then 7 more minutes of activity, the Total Time in Product will be reported as 17 minutes. But if another student also has 25 minutes in the program with four periods of inactivity lasting from 2 to 4 minutes each, the student’s Total Time in Product will be reported as 25 minutes, since no period of inactivity reached 5 minutes.
What Level of Data Will I See?
The Learner Activity Report provides student-level data for the students you have access to based on your role. So, the report will be different for a Teacher, School Admin, District Admin, or Top-Level Admin.
However, if you are, for example, a top-level Admin or District Admin and would like to drill-down and get a Learner Activity Report for one particular School or Class, you can. From your top-level Dashboard view, click down into a specific District, School, or Class, and then click Reports and choose a Learner Activity Report timeframe. The Learner Activity Report generated will mirror the view you had on your Dashboard and include data for that level.
The District-level Admin on our demo account below would, by default, get a Learner Activity Report for the three schools shown on the Dashboard (the full CSV report is too large to show completely below).
But, if the same District-level Admin clicked into the My Reading Academy School shown on the top view of the Dashboard above, and then clicked on a Class, they could generate a Learner Activity Report for just the two Students in that Class.
