Even if you wish to roster your Summer School students with ClassLink, we recommend that Administrators start by manually creating a new, separate school called "Summer School" in the Educator Center and adding summer school classes with names that distinguish them from those in the regular school year (e.g., Summer 2025 – Teacher Last Name – Grade). This rostering method will not affect your existing school or class assignments and does not impact your license access. See this article for manual rostering guidance.
Enable Manual Rostering First: To manually add a summer school and summer classes in the Educator Center for your ClassLink-managed organization, please reach out to Age of Learning Customer Care first so our team can activate that functionality for you in the platform.
After you have created your "Summer School" school and classes manually, you can roster students and teachers via ClassLink as usual. This method will ensure that you do not affect your existing school or class assignments or impact license access.
Leveraging ClassLink for rostering presents multiple options for class creation to support your summer school monitoring and reporting needs. You can choose to create dedicated summer school classes within your district's Student Information System (SIS), and sync those classes into the Age of Learning platform or create classes manually in the Educator Center for a more customizable approach to summer school student management.
Once classes are created and students are rostered within the Educator Center, it will simplify the management and tracking of your summer school participants. You'll be able to take advantage of streamlined access for monitoring student progress and generating reports, facilitating efficient oversight of your summer school program.
Other Important Considerations:
- When setting up classes for summer school within the district SIS to be included in your district’s ClassLink sync, note the scheduled dates for your district’s annual ClassLink pause to begin and end, as this typically occurs over the summer. During this pause, ClassLink will not transmit any updates or modifications to the Age of Learning platform. Ensure all necessary changes are finalized before the ClassLink sync is paused.
- Whether creating summer school classes via SIS/ClassLink or manually creating classes in the Educator Center, ensure that all classes are named in a way that distinguishes them from classes in the regular school year (e.g., Summer 2025 – Teacher Last Name – Grade).
- If classes are manually created directly in the Educator Center, identify someone to manage the removal of the summer classes once summer school is over and all reporting needs are complete.
