If you manage both teachers and classes in Educator Center, you may wonder whether teachers and administrators need separate logins or different access points. This article explains how user roles, logins, and permissions work — and how to manage access for your team.
One Login for All Roles
Everyone — teachers, school administrators, and district administrators — signs in at the same place:
Once logged in, Educator Center automatically displays the correct set of tools for each user’s role and permissions.
Teachers see tools for managing their own classes and students.
School and district administrators see additional features for reporting, licensing, and oversight.
Users assigned both roles use the same login to reach either view — they simply navigate or drill down to the class level when they want to see what a teacher would see.
Why You Don’t Need Separate Logins
Educator Center uses role-based permissions instead of separate portals.
That means a single login can unlock multiple views depending on what the user has permission to do.
This keeps things simple and secure:
Teachers and admins always sign in through the same trusted URL.
The system automatically limits what each user can access based on their role.
Dual-role users can move between global (admin) and classroom (teacher) views within the same session by selecting a school, class, or teacher name in their dashboard.
How Permissions Work
Access is determined by role assignments in your organization:
- Teacher: Manage their own classes, view assigned students, assign skills, and run class-level reports.
- School Admin: View all teachers and students in the school, manage rosters, and generate school-level reports.
- District Admin: View all schools in the district, manage licenses, and generate district-wide reports.
If you need to adjust who has which role or what level of data visibility they have, contact your Customer Success Manager or submit a request here and our Customer Care team will help configure those permissions.
Users Who Have Both Roles
Some staff members serve as both teachers and admins (for example, assistant principals or lead teachers).
These users log in once and then navigate between roles as needed:
When they first log in, they’ll usually land on their admin dashboard (district or school view).
To see the same data a teacher sees, they can select a school, then a class, and finally a student list — effectively drilling down into the classroom view.
When finished, they can return to the higher-level admin view without logging out.
If someone prefers to keep these roles completely separate (for example, different email addresses for each), Support can create a second account — though most users find one login more convenient.
Managing Access for Your Organization
If you’d like to:
Restrict which staff can view certain data,
Add or remove admin permissions, or
Create separate credentials for dual-role users,
please contact your Customer Success Manager or email our Support team at support@ageoflearning.com (or your dedicated support channel).
We can help set up the right structure for your district or school.
Key Takeaways
Everyone signs in at the same URL: https://educate.aofl.com
Permissions determine what each user can view or manage.
Dual-role users can access both teacher- and admin-level tools by navigating to the appropriate level — no need for multiple logins.
Separate credentials are optional and only needed if you want complete separation between roles.
