Grounded in the Science of Reading and offering learners structured, Science of Reading-aligned lessons, My Reading Academy also offers teachers an indispensable tool that leverages a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to help every student thrive. The program provides targeted, personalized support that meets each student where they are and takes them further than they ever thought possible.
With the tiered MTSS framework, students receive just the right amount of help—from whole-class instruction (Tier 1) to focused small-group work (Tier 2), or even intensive, highly-individualized one-on-one support (Tier 3) when needed—and My Reading Academy helps streamline and facilitate that differentiated instruction for teachers.
Tier 1: Science of Reading Helps Everyone Build a Strong Literacy Foundation
MTSS Tier 1 instruction is designed to help students succeed as readers by ensuring they receive high-quality, universal literacy instruction. My Reading Academy helps teachers do just that, offering Science of Reading-aligned lessons that are supported by fun and interactive games and stories that keep students motivated and engaged as they reinforce essential reading skills.
Tier 2: Targeting Groups of Learners with Similar Needs
With MTSS Tier 2, small groups of students receive targeted support to address specific skills they may be struggling with, like vocabulary or fluency. Adaptive assessments in My Reading Academy allow teachers to pinpoint exactly where each student needs extra practice, making interventions efficient and impactful. In the program instructional pivots are made based on 100 data points taken every 3-4 minutes to provide the right support at the right time.
The Progress Dashboards in the Educator Center can also help teachers identify groups of students who need support on the same skills and standards and offer them group activities that target those skills and standards.
Teachers can also use the Educator Center to assign skills for students to work on within My Reading Academy, in addition to their regular adaptive pathway within the program. (Note: You may need to request that this feature is activated for you if you do not see it in the Dashboard menu.)
Tier 3: Targeting Individual Students in Need
At once the most critical and the most difficult to accommodate—without an adaptive literacy program like My Reading Academy—MTSS Tier 3 provides intensive, one-on-one instruction for those students who need the greatest amount of support.
Powered by our evidence-based Knowledge Map and patented technology, My Reading Academy creates a personalized path to becoming a fluent, confident, and strategic reader for each student from the moment they start using the program. The program's in-game, adaptive placement activities quickly identify each student’s current skill level, launching a unique Learning Pathway. As students engage with the targeted learning activities, 100 data points are taken every 3–4 minutes to help continually adjust the student path and pace towards skills proficiency.
As was the case with Tier 2 for for small groups, the Educator Center's Dashboards can help teachers identify individual students who need extra support and offer them offer additional, in-classroom learning activities based on that data.
