While we believe in making learning engaging and fun for our students, we also want to ensure that our programs are effective. So, all our programs include progress bars/activity meters set to a 15-minute usage goal for each session to encourage students to focus on developing their reading skills over a sustained period of time.
With just three 15-minute sessions, your students will reach their 45-minute weekly goal for My Reading Academy or My Reading Academy Español that you can track on your Educator Center Usage Dashboard. Keep in mind, the 15-minute daily goal and 45-minute weekly goal are not limits. If you are able to implement four or five sessions with My Reading Academy or My Reading Academy Español in a week, you are likely to see even greater learning gains in reading.

Progress Bar: Encouraging Sustained Learning
The daily progress bars/activity meters in our programs allow students to monitor their progress towards the 15-minute daily goal in real time. The meter tracks the time students have spent engaging in learning activities that day. It's important to note that the meter measures time spent on activities, not the number of activities completed, and it resets every 24 hours.
The following screenshot shows the activity meter filled on My Math Academy.
Celebrating Learning with Our Dance Party Reward
Whenever a student successfully reaches their daily 15-minute goal, which is tracked by the progress bar in each program, the student is treated to a well-deserved dance party to celebrate their success! There’s nothing for the teacher to do to activate it; once the goal is met, the dance party should automatically activate for that student.
Keep in mind that the dance party is only activated when a student reaches 15 minutes of activity during a single 24 hour period and will only be activated once every 24 hours. If the student gets a dance party after 15 minutes and then continues playing and reaches 30 minutes of usage that day, they won't get a second dance party.
The in-game progress bar is also reset for each child each night; program usage on prior days does not factor in to the progress bar or dance party the next day (though of course it is tracked on the Usage Dashboards in the Educator Center).
We hope that the dance party is a lively and joyful celebration of your students’ commitment to learning. Teachers regularly report that it’s a fun way for them to unwind and feel good about their accomplishments, creating a positive and energetic learning environment.
If you ever have any issues with how the dance party is or is not being activated, you can reach out to us and submit a ticket.
