During the 2024-2025 school year, the ELC of Hillsborough partnered with Age of Learning to support their important early learning initiatives for families they serve. That partnership is now winding down, so we wanted to let you know what to expect. If you would like to inquire about this initiative, visit the ELC of Hillsborough website at https://www.elchc.org/.
Key Details for May - July 2025
No New Devices or Accounts
- There are no more devices that can be shipped.
- No new student accounts will be set up.
- If you already have one, you will be able to keep your Samsung A9 tablet, which will be unlocked for your personal use (requires that you add a Google/Gmail account to the device).
The Unlocking Process for Your Samsung Tablet
- The process of unlocking all tablets will begin on May 13th.
- To start the process, your device must be: powered on, connected to wi-fi, and fully charged or connected to charge.
- Some devices are showing error messages because they are turned on but NOT connected to the internet via your home Wi-Fi.
- Don't worry, if your device isn't ready on May 13, the process will start once it is turned on, connected to Wi-Fi, and charged.
- There are thousands of devices to unlock, so not all devices will be unlocked immediately; keep your device ready until you get a confirmation email.
After Your Device is Unlocked
- You will receive an email to confirm when the unlocking process is complete for your device.
- Once the tablet is unlocked, you are free to use it as your personal device and download other apps. We will not be managing or supporting that.
- You will see a new "launcher" on your Galaxy A9 home screen after it is unlocked. This launcher is the tool you'll use to download apps. To get started, you'll need a Gmail account.
- Your unlocked home screen should look like this:
- Note: The icons to launch our math and reading programs will be on the second page after unlocking, not the first. So you will need to swipe to access them. You can also use your browser to go to https://login.ageoflearning.com/ and log in to the programs that way.
- Note: Even when the device is unlocked, you may still see that it still being managed by Intelligent Hub through the end of June.
Downloading Apps & Making Changes Is Your Choice
- If you are unable to install apps, it is most likely because you have not yet added a personal Gmail account to the device. Go to Settings, select Accounts, and add a Gmail account.
- You will need to manage and take responsibility for any app downloads or other tablet changes you make.
- We will not be able to provide support for any non-Age of Learning apps or changes you make on the device once it is unlocked.
- The Google Play app store requires that you have a Gmail account to download apps.
Program Licenses Expire June 30th
- Licenses for the My Math Academy and My Reading Academy programs that you have been using on your device are set to expire on June 30th.
- You will continue to have access to My Math Academy and My Reading Academy but the icons to launch those programs will be on the second page after unlocking, not the first. So you will need to swipe to access them. You can also use your browser to go to https://login.ageoflearning.com/ and log in to the programs that way.
- You will not have access to these programs after June 30, 2025.
- Caregiver Center access will also expire after June 30.
- We can provide support for any issues with our programs only through June 30.
- We will not be able to provide support for any other apps or tablet issues.
Factory Reset of Your Device
- We do not yet have the date confirmed, but the company that has been managing these tablets, Stratix, will be performing a "factory reset" of all devices after they are unlocked.
- The factory reset will remove all downloaded apps, erase all user data, and restore all original settings. The device will return to its original state when it left the factory.
- For this reason, you may wish to wait for the reset to be completed before you start to download apps and configure your device, because anything you do before the reset will be lost. You may also choose to download new apps right away, knowing you'll have to redownload them again after the reset. The choice is up to you!
You Will Be Responsible for Any Device Support
As noted above, we will not be able to provide support for any 3rd-party apps or other changes you make on the device once it is unlocked, and Stratix will not be able to provide any device support.
If you experience hardware issues with your Samsung A9 tablet after the factory reset, you can try contacting Samsung Customer Care for assistance. Samsung support is in no way connected this ELC of Hillsborough initiative or Age of Learning.
