Assigning Licenses
-
Students: Only students get licenses assigned to them. Assigning a product license is the action of giving a specific student access to a specific Age of Learning product. Each product requires a specific license. So, for example, assigned a My Math Academy to a student does not give that student access to My Reading Academy.
If a student does not have a valid (non-expired) product license assigned to them for a program they are trying to use, the login will fail and they will be unable to use the program until they are assigned a valid license. Top-level Admins are typically in charge of licenses but they often distribute them to other school Admins or Teacher for them to assign.
-
Teachers: Teachers do not get licenses assigned to them. Teachers can, however, log in and access any of the programs if at least one student in the class has a license. As noted above, if an Administrator has distributed a license to a Teacher, the Teacher can assign it to a student, just as an Admin can.
-
Administrators: Administrators do not get licenses assigned to them. Unlike Teachers, however, Admins get access to the Educator Center only and cannot access programs like My Math Academy and My Reading Academy. If an Admin tries to log in to one of these programs they will encounter a login error. As noted above, Admins can distribute license to other Admins and Teachers to assist with the process of assigning licenses to their students.
-
How to Assign Licenses: Licenses can be assigned to Students by Admins or Teachers either individually or in a Bulk Action from the Educator Center's Active Students page.

Distributing Licenses
-
Definition: Distributing a product license means giving the license(s) to another Administrator and/or Teacher so that they are able to help assign the licenses to students. A top-level Administrator is typically responsible for this distribution within their organization.
-
Distributing a License Doesn't Provide Access: Distributing a license to a Teacher or Admin does not provide program access to the Students or the Teacher. Each Student must be assigned a license after it is distributed. For example, an Administrator may distribute 20 licenses to a teacher. The teacher must then assign those 20 licenses to her students before they can log in to the programs.
-
Distributing, Not Redistributing: A top-level Administrator can distribute license to lower-level Admins and/or Teachers, but those other Admins cannot redistribute to other Admins or Teachers.
-
How to Distribute Licenses: Administrators can distribute licenses from the License Management section of the Educator Center. Click the Accounts menu, then select Licenses > Management from the drop-down.
