There are a few reasons that a roster upload can fail. Administrators can troubleshoot many errors by re-downloading your existing template or a blank template from the Educator Center.
If you are trying to add a new roster or update your current roster and the roster validation fails, the Educator Center will provide error messages that specify which row and column of the CSV file needs to be fixed.
Some of the most common errors occur when changes are made to the template structure after you’ve downloaded it. For example, you might change the column order or column name by accident. Any changes like that will prevent our system from uploading your roster.

Please re-download the roster template and update your roster information into this template. You can use any spreadsheet software you’d like, such as Excel, but it must be able to save the file type as “CSV UTF-8”. |

The name of the column listed in your CSV doesn’t match the corresponding column in the template. |
Re-download your roster template and update column names in your file to match the template. |
This column is required |
Your CSV is missing the required information. |
Check for which fields are listed as required in the header of your template and ensure that information has been provided for each column. |
Invalid Email Address |
At least one email address is not in the proper format. |
Review the accepted formats in the Field Definition guide and ensure the email has no spaces or special characters. |
Email Already in Use |
At least one email address in your CSV is already in use by another user. |
Ensure each teacher has a unique email. |
Invalid Date/Year/Month/Day |
The data entered in your CSV doesn’t follow the accepted format. |
Review the accepted formats in the Field Definition guide and ensure the information is listed numerically (ex. 01 rather than January) |
Your file contains conflicting emails for the same Teacher ID |
Multiple emails have been provided for the same teacher. |
Review your roster and ensure only one email is set for each teacher. |
Invalid Language |
You have entered a language that is not currently supported or the spelling of the language doesn’t match the accepted format. |
Confirm your language is either English or Spanish. |
Incorrect Column Count |
There are either too many or too few columns in your roster file. |
Re-download your roster template and ensure the correct columns are in your file. This could happen if you are using a roster template for a different level of your organization. |
Misaligned Columns |
You have the correct columns in your file but in an incorrect order. |
The column order can’t change from their original order in the CSV template. Re-download the roster template and ensure the columns are listed in the correct order. |
Once you have addressed any errors that were reported in your original file, click the Re-upload Roster button to try again.
